Discover and experience circular construction first-hand: To mark the launch of Grünes Klassenzimmer Stuttgart (“Green Classroom Stuttgart”), w∞d.ii will become an open space for learning, exchange and hands-on exploration. Talks, guided tours, workshops and excursions – for example, around the Wizemann site – invite children, young people, families, members of the local community and professionals to explore reuse, material cycles, natural building materials and design for disassembly from a variety of perspectives.

How can a new learning space be created without relying exclusively on new resources?

During European Action Week, we will mark the official public launch of Grünes Klassenzimmer Stuttgart (“Green Classroom Stuttgart”) – a temporary, circular space for learning and participation at the Q11 site in Stuttgart’s Neckarpark. The project follows the Reuse-First principle: instead of relying exclusively on new building materials, existing materials and components will be identified, assessed and made available for further use. The design process, material sourcing, construction, use and eventual disassembly will be conceived as one continuous process of learning and participation.

During European Action Week, w∞d.ii, our mobile learning space designed according to fully circular principles, will become the central place for demonstration, events and exchange on site. The walk-in structure provides a tangible example of how natural building materials, reusable components, design for disassembly, and biological and technical material cycles can work together. In this way, w∞d.ii makes topics that often remain abstract in discussions about the transformation of the construction sector visible and accessible through direct experience.

A varied programme of talks, guided tours, workshops, conversations and joint explorations will take place in and around w∞d.ii. Depending on the target group, the different formats will address questions such as:

  • What does circular construction mean in practice?

  • How can buildings be designed so that their components can be reused later?

  • What role do natural and low-emission materials play?

  • How can children, young people, professionals and members of the local community actively help shape their built environment?

In interactive workshops, participants can examine materials, explore material cycles and develop their own ideas for a regenerative future. Guided tours of w∞d.ii will provide insights into its construction and material choices. Talks and discussion formats will create space for professional perspectives, exchange and collective reflection. The programme will be complemented by excursions and explorations of the Wizemann site.

European Action Week will also provide an outlook on the next stages of the Green Classroom. These include the planned urban mining and material preparation phase, as well as the gradual development of the “SchätzLÄ” Urban Mining Hub. The emerging material store is intended to make reusable building components available for the Green Classroom, schools and other educational projects. The topics explored during European Action Week will therefore mark the beginning of a longer-term process connecting learning, participation and circular construction.

The programme is aimed at children and young people, families, students, teachers, professionals from planning, architecture and the skilled trades, as well as interested members of the local community.

Participation is free of charge and no prior knowledge is required.
