WoodenValley empowers people and organisations to build in climate-positive and participatory ways, enabling them to actively contribute to a regenerative future. Our work is guided by a commitment to the common good and the principles of steward-ownership. At the intersection of education, research and practice, we develop new approaches to a resource-efficient, circular and collaboratively shaped building culture.

In our projects, we combine specialist knowledge with practical action. We make topics such as reuse, urban mining, natural building materials, design for disassembly and closed material loops tangible and accessible through hands-on experience. We see buildings and construction sites not only as physical structures, but also as places for learning, exchange and participation.

Together with children and young people, educational institutions, municipalities, planners, researchers, craftspeople and civil society initiatives, we explore how the transformation of the built environment can succeed. People should be able not only to observe construction processes, but also to contribute their own ideas, discover and work with materials, and actively help shape their surroundings.

Over the coming months, the Grünes Klassenzimmer Stuttgart (“Green Classroom Stuttgart”) will take shape as a temporary, circular space for learning and participation, developed according to the Reuse-First principle.

The European Action Week marks the project’s official public launch and offers a first glimpse into the upcoming urban mining and material preparation phase.

The Green Classroom will subsequently be developed, built and used step by step together with children and young people, students, professionals and members of the local community. In this way, the entire development process will become a long-term, hands-on learning and participation project for a circular building culture.
