What is the European Action Week?

The European Action Week will take place from 5 to 13 September 2026. It is hosted by Architects for Future and conceptually developed together with initiatives, organisations and individuals from the European Network for a Just Building Transition. It builds on three European Assemblies convened by Architects for Future and the ongoing collaboration of transnational working groups developing collective momentum, network structures and political perspectives.

As a decentralised, multi-day event taking place across Europe, it brings together local actions, gatherings, and encounters under a shared framework that explore how we want to live, build, and shape our communities and built environments in a more just, sustainable way, in solidarity one with another. Rooted in civil society engagement, the European Action Week creates space for exchange, learning, and collaboration across borders, while making visible the many ways people are already working for change on the ground.

OUR VISION

We imagine the European Action Week as a joyful festival of togetherness and mutual learning – a space for sharing experiences, democatic resistance, future- proof new imaginations, ideas, and stories, enjoying time together, and building stronger communities.

The European Action Week is a Europe-wide, decentralised format that brings together initiatives, organisations and committed individuals to jointly advance the process towards a socially just and sustainable transformation of our built environment and society.

The European Action Week opens up space for many different kinds of contributions, including discussions, workshops, neighbourhood activities, cultural formats, walks, screenings, public engagement and performances or interventions in public space. Its aim is to make transformative change visible across Europe, take a collective stance for a Just Building Transition, strengthen networks, and spark lasting connections and collaboration.

About - The European Network for a Just Building Transition

The European Action Week was developed as part of the growing European Network for a Just Building Transition.

The network brings together initiatives, activists, architects, planners, researchers, housing actors and other groups across Europe who are working towards a socially just and climate-responsible transformation of the built environment. The Network creates a space for exchange, support and joint action around housing justice, reuse over demolition, climate responsibility in construction, anti-speculation, advocacy, movement building and more.

The European Action Week is one shared moment within this broader process: a decentralized week of actions, events, campaigns, workshops and public interventions across different local contexts. It aims to make visible that many people and initiatives across Europe are working towards a just building transition and that these struggles are connected.

The network is open to new people, groups and initiatives who want to connect, exchange knowledge, support each other or become active together.
