Working together for a sustainable city

The Architects for Future Esslingen group is committed to climate-responsible and future-oriented building and urban development. Since 2024, architects, engineers and people from a wide range of fields have been working together to advance the transformation of the construction sector in Esslingen and to bring the impacts of climate change more strongly into focus.

Under the motto “Think globally – act locally,” the group aims to make connections visible and highlight concrete opportunities for sustainable development at the local level. This is not only about planning and construction itself, but also about the question of how our city can be designed to remain liveable, climate-resilient and resource-efficient in the long term.

An important part of the group’s work is public dialogue. Through urban walks, lectures, exhibitions, discussion events and other formats, Architects for Future Esslingen brings issues relating to climate protection, construction and urban development into the public sphere. Together with local residents, the group discusses opportunities for creating a future-ready city.

The group sees itself as open and diverse: everyone who is interested in sustainable building and urban development and wants to support a genuine transformation of the construction sector is welcome. Together, the aim is to develop ideas, share knowledge and initiate tangible change.

After its first two years, the group is now well connected and has established a visible presence in Esslingen. The focus is firmly on the future: on a city where climate protection, resource conservation, a culture of renovation and adaptation, and quality of life are naturally considered together.
