[old Wuiener] - Too Hot to Handle

At the center of the event series "Old WUiener" is the question: What does the demolition of a building actually mean, and how much sense does it actually make? Demolition affects all of us - especially when entire city districts and places that shape identity disappear, causing irreversible ecological damage.

Hardly any other place in Vienna shows our absurd approach to existing buildings as clearly as the Old WU (the old economics university building). The Old WU is threatened with demolition - the competition is currently underway and will run until summer 2027.

Together with architects4future, Kollektiv Raumstation, studio kollision and the Allianz alte WU we are giving the Old WU, the old Wiener, one more day of attention. True to the saying "Everything has an end, only the sausage has two," we want to join forces and explore alternatives to demolition. Three events taking place directly at the Alte WU on September 6, 2026, will show that demolition is far from WU-rscht (far from irrelevant).

Too Hot to Handle: Vienna Edition – Premiere!

The city is heating up, relationships are getting more complicated - and right in the middle of it all: a building is searching for true love. Kollektiv Raumstation presents a new episode of a slightly different type of dating show.

When an entire city block suddenly finds itself on the dating market: the Alte WU is looking for nothing less than her future.

Caugth between a flashy educational campus with a serious career complex, a seemingly perfect renaturation with a guilt trip, and an ecological transformation that wants to be more than just a green fig leaf, things get heated, as the candidates flirt, fight and negotiate for a place in Alte WU´s heart.

Join us live as toxic vibes come to light, old situationships from the interim-use days resurface, and the city's heat causes the emotions to boil over.

Will the Alte WU find true love in the end or will she be left alone once again?
