Hannover selber machen

Our initiative was set up following the announcement of plans for a "tech factory" on the site of the Nordstadt Hospital in Hannover (Germany), which is due to close. Rather than accept plans being made over our heads, we want to play an active role in deciding how we can transform our city.

We want to stop gentrification and displacement from Nordstadt and help create ‘housing for all’ on the site. Together, we are campaigning to ensure that a neighbourhood is created on the site of the Nordstadt Hospital where housing is organised in the public interest – that is, where rent is set without the aim of making a profit. As a first step, we are gathering ideas for the site and organising ourselves to inform and mobilise the public.
