Open construction site: Taking the Building Transition into Your Own Hands

Sustainable Renovation of Existing Buildings Using Bio-based Materials: The Example of a Small End-of-Row House from the 1920s

Preservation and energy-efficient renovation are key to a sustainable building stock. In particular, the renovation of owner-occupied single-family homes presents both great potential and significant challenges. The example building is part of a housing estate built in 1928, surrounded by numerous identical buildings. Building materials made from clay and renewable resources offer many advantages for indoor climate, summer heat protection, and the environment. Experts from Architects for Future and the architecture firm enæble will demonstrate the possibilities of renovation with bio-based building materials using a small end-of-terrace house in Hamburg-Harburg as an example.
