N_AS Summerschool
With the fourth Summer School of the New Architecture School Siegen from 9 to 15. September 2026 we dedicate ourselves to the future of architectural doctrine. Architecture is in transition: Between climate crisis, resource scarcity, social tensions and new forms of collective knowledge production, what building means is changing – and thus also what architectural doctrine will have to do in the future.
The Summer School takes place in a special institutional moment. With the Neue Architekturschule Siegen, the Department of Architecture is currently reinventing itself. Questions about content, teaching formats, role models and institutional structures are part of an ongoing transformation process that we actively shape together with students, teachers and external guests.
Future Curriculum Circuit Training
Negotiate how we learn together
The Summerschool Future Curriculum Circuit Training does not understand the curriculum as administrative rules, but as the subject of collective bargaining. When planning increasingly becomes a cultural practice of further construction, repair, mediating and cooperation, it is not enough to simply adapt content. We are looking for new teaching formats, institutional mobility and changed forms of learning together.
The image of the Circuit Training serves as a leitmotif: In a course of different stations and discussion areas, we jointly negotiate questions about job description, power and hierarchy, competences and didactics as well as self-organization and institutional transformation - in workshops, lectures, a podcast studio, discursive dinner formats and informal discussion rounds.
Among others are Saskia Hebert (subsolar architecture & urban research), Lidia Gasperoni (The Bartlett School of Architecture, London), Diana Lucas-Drogan (University of Sustainable Development Eberswalde), Matthew Crabbe & Selina Schlez (Natural Building Lab, TU Berlin) and nexture+. Rosalie Arendt (University of Twente), Angelika Hinterbrandner (Bauwende Allianz/ProjectTogether, Kontextur) and Norbert Palz (University of the Arts Berlin) are also expected to lecture. In addition, the student initiative AU:34 e.V., the Student Council Architecture Siegen and other initiatives help shape the program and bring perspectives on self-organization and institutional transformation into the discussion. Accompanying Sorana Radulescu and Katharina Lux from Baunetz Campus set up a podcast studio that captures debates of the Summer School.
