Mitmachbaustelle Denk-mal-Hof

Come join us in Niederfinow for a hands-on building experience during the European Action Week and learn traditional and ecological building techniques. At the Denk-mal-Hof Niederfinow, a historic listed building is being reconstructed and transformed into an educational centre for truly healthy building, sustainable renovation, and the preservation of regional building culture.

As part of the hands-on construction site from 16–19 September 2026, you can get involved yourself and learn about various traditional and sustainable building techniques.

In addition to daily discussions on natural, healthy, and environmentally friendly construction and renovation methods, there will be practical demonstrations and hands-on experience with different infill techniques for timber-frame walls, working with wooden laths, lattice structures, woven infill, earth, straw, and natural fibres, as well as the production of earth mixes and interior insulation using hemp.

Healthy food will be provided on the construction site. Accommodation is available nearby, for example at Camping Triangel Niederfinow.

From Berlin, the construction site is easy to reach by taking the RE3 via Eberswalde, followed by the RB60 to Niederfinow, then a 10 minutes walk. Alternatively, you can cycle the final stretch from Eberswalde, which takes around 30 minutes along the beautiful Finow Canal trail.

The course is free of charge as part of the European Action Week 2026.
