Urban greening can make a remarkable difference – especially during our increasingly hot summers. We are showcasing selected streets and public spaces in Rosenheim as they are today, and visualizing how much more comfortable and livable the city could be with more greenery.

More Green for a More Livable Rosenheim

Urban greening can make a remarkable difference – especially on hot summer days. Trees, shrubs, green public spaces and unsealed surfaces can make our city not only more beautiful, but also noticeably more comfortable and resilient in the face of climate change.

In densely built-up areas in particular, asphalt, concrete and paving heat up considerably during summer. Where there is little shade, the journey to work, the walk to school or simply spending time in a public space can quickly become uncomfortable and exhausting. But what could Rosenheim look and feel like if we gave our city more space for greenery?

We have taken a closer look at selected streets and public spaces in Rosenheim and are visualizing how they look today – and how they could be transformed with more urban greenery.

This is not about completely redesigning Rosenheim. It is about rethinking the spaces we already have and making the possibilities visible.

Where could a tree be planted?
Where could paved surfaces be removed and replaced with permeable, green areas?
Where is there space for shrubs, perennials or green façades?
And where could today’s heavily overheated traffic spaces become attractive, shaded places for people to meet, relax and spend time?

In the city centre of Rosenheim, you will find posters attached to bicycles showing the current state of selected streets and public spaces alongside an illustrated vision of how they could look with more greenery.

Dear people of Rosenheim, we want to show you what is possible – take a fresh look at your city and imagine what it could become!
