How do we want to build in the future – and what happens to materials when a building is no longer needed? In our kindergarten workshop “Building Without End”, children explored these questions through play: discovering different materials, experimenting, building, taking things apart and putting them together in new ways.

The focus was not on creating a perfect result, but on exploring and learning by doing. The children experienced first-hand that materials do not simply have to become waste – they can be reused and given new purposes. In this way, concepts such as reuse, material cycles and circular construction become tangible and accessible even for very young children.

The level of interest was clear from the very beginning: the first workshop was fully booked almost immediately – and the second one filled up shortly afterwards.

For us, the activity also offered a first glimpse of what we want to create at the future Green Classroom Stuttgart: a place where children do not just learn about sustainable building, but can experiment, discover and shape things themselves.

Because sometimes change starts very simply: with curiosity, a few materials and the freedom to keep building something new.
