Soft Grounds
SOFT GROUNDS is a Marseille-based multidisciplinary duo working at the intersection of architecture, spatial design, construction, and socio-cultural mediation.
Trained in architecture and urban design, we explore questions of inclusivity and social transformation through spatial practices. Our aim is to build and design towards more sensitive and inclusive (urban) environments. Our work combines small-scale interventions, timber construction, reused materials, and written word, we to create inviting (temporary) spaces.
Through participatory processes and performative, collaborative actions, we foster community-building and knowledge exchange: local acts of commoning and sharing that aim to transform space beyond the physical. Inclusion and diversity are central to our approach.
Rooted in feminist and emancipatory principles, we aim to open discussions around dominant narratives of public space and its embedded power structures. We seek to engage, build, and perform in spaces that present challenges – and that may, over the course of a project, become sites of realized utopia(s).
