FRAME_WORK @ Schenkinsel_Schumeierplatz

Vienna, Austria | Artistic / design practice

Our architecture system FRAME_WORK consists of discarded bicycle parts (particularly frames) and is used to constitute a temporary pavillon with a hexagonal ground area.

On Sunday, 6th of September 2026, from 3pm to open end this pavillon will serve as the frame work for a neighbourhood community space as well as a citizens plenum at the Schenkinselfest (block party featuring a free-of-cost-shop) at Schumeierplatz in the district of Ottakring in Vienna.

Citizens of all ages from this predominantly working class, immigrant neighbourhood as well as visitors of the block party will be invited to gather under this extraordinary structure to discuss their experiences, needs, but also ideas and visions for their city, neighbourhood and public space.

This gathering will be moderated by trained activists who will use elements of different facilitation techniques, including ones that are used during citizens assemblies (Bürgerräte).

One of the aims of this project ist to empower ordinary citizens from a "difficult" neighbourhoods to voice and discuss their needs in a low-threshold, deliberate, facilitated way.

Ideally we will also be able to familiarize people with methods of direct, deliberative democracy.
